Episode Transcript
You left the world of nine to five for something that gave you more freedom, satisfaction, alignment, and you have built a business that works. And you know deep down you have got the skills, the experience, and the qualifications that your work needs, and your client testimonials constantly tell you how great you are. And the people watching from the outside, all your friends, all your family, they're telling you that they're so proud of you and what you're achieving and you're doing really well.
But inside there is no feeling of success or alignment. And there isn't any freedom, because somehow you went from a 9 to 5 in someone else's business to a full-time job in your own, where you are quite bluntly a bit of a toxic boss. And this is not the business and the life that you took a chance on when you started building it, and it hurts.
But you can't say that out loud to other people when they're praising you for being successful. It's like you're somehow ungrateful for their support.
And you've spent a long time now looking at what that gap is, trying to figure it out. You've tried another course, getting some more experience with different clients, maybe even paying another coach for another strategy, which, let's be blunt, is normally the same thing repackaged with a few changes in terminology. And you still can't figure out what is wrong. And I understand how frustrating that is and why it's really tempting to ruminate on it.
But here's a reality check. You do have those skills, the knowledge, the experience you need to build the business and the life you want. You feel doubts about them, but they are there and it has been proven time and time again. What's actually happening here is your subconscious, the beliefs, the experiences, the identity lens that you see yourself through, that's decided the version of success that you want is not available to you.
And until that changes, nothing else you try is going to move very far. This podcast is about intentional ambition, which means building your version of success, because your business should never be running your life. It should be actively enabling you to live the life that you actually want to live.
As a clinical hypnotherapist and an NLP practitioner who retrained after almost two decades of helping people build their teams, their businesses and their dreams from scratch, I'm newly self-employed because I have become obsessed with one question. Why do brilliant and capable women still doubt themselves? Because with your skills and experience, you have everything you need to succeed.
But the truth is those blocks you have are internal. So that's why all this external focus on more coaches, more strategies, more skills, it isn't working. The focus needs to be internal. And that's why everything I help with is through the lens of your subconscious, shifting those limiting beliefs and the identity you have about yourself, because I had what you'd call a traditionally successful life on paper pre-COVID.
I had a whole shopping list of successful things: a good career with a path laid out in front of me, a good income, a nice house, happy kids. Over the past five years, I basically burnt it to the ground and I'm building it back up again. I work from home part-time because the freedom and flexibility make me happier than being in an office. I retrained in hypnotherapy because the biggest breakthroughs and uplifts I helped my corporate clients with were never really about the strategy and operations I provided in a job contract. It was around how I helped them overcome their limiting beliefs, their blocks, that coaching. And I wanted the skills and credibility to help more people. So now I am building a new business and I'm doing it with very intentional ambition.
I work from home with my office manager, that's Olivia, the rottie, and I absolutely love it to bits. I drink far too much coffee every day and I do it all from my home, which I just love being in because I'm so lucky to live in the beautiful Cheshire countryside after relocating in 2021 with my gorgeous husband.
So now I'm inviting you to think about what your life and business could look like if you used intentional ambition to focus on what success looks like to you.
So every episode, I'm gonna take you through some of the beliefs I see coming up and up again with the women I'm supporting to build successful businesses. I'm gonna look at what's actually sitting underneath them. I talk a lot about how to make small shifts that build up, not just to rewire your subconscious beliefs, which is where it starts, but actually how to practically use those new beliefs to take real steps in the real world, to embody those beliefs, to see the action, to feel it, to build the success.
So if you're building a successful business and life on your terms, not what everybody else wants you to do, and you want that success to feel as good as it looks, this is the podcast for you. So follow or subscribe wherever you're listening. The next episode will be coming to you, and I can't wait to get to know you. Thanks for being here.
